So This is What Football in January is Like

The hardest thing in the world to understand is income tax. — Albert Einstein

It isn’t necessary to be rich and famous to be happy, it’s only necessary to be rich. — Alan Alda

As I sit here writing this post, we are in the middle of one of the best weekends of the year in sports. The NFL started with 8 teams left and the Saints have already manhandled the Cardinals this afternoon. Did you see the hit Warner took? His body closed like a folding chair from the impact. It is halftime of the second game today and the Colts are up 17-3 over the Ravens. For those of us who bow to the Lombardi Trophy like a pagan idol, this is it. There’s nothing better, especially if your team still happens to be alive. My “J-E-T-S Jets, Jets, Jets!!!” are still alive on the west coast waiting to play the Chargers. Anything can happen, so I hope I will be a happy man on Monday.

At the U.S. Investment Report, editor Stephen W. Quickel asks “What’s Making Investors Hesitant?” One reason he states for this hesitancy is investor concern over price valuations, yet he feels P/E ratios are “surprisingly modest.” Check out the updates to the USIR models and the new stocks added to their “USIR Recommended List.”

The boys over at Motley Fool Global Gains, the boys are stating that “We’re In It For The Long Haul.” Besides giving updates to their portfolios and a recommendation on how to start a new one, they talk about how this particular run in the market has been weird in that investors really aren’t behind it. Come see their evidence of cash flows leaving certain segments of the market despite the fact that the market has been positive.

The Ravens defense is putting up a fight, but their offense has done nothing at this point. It looks as if Peyton Manning will be playing some more football next weekend. See you Monday.
